"ABC Animals provides a unique interactive teaching tool that makes learning letters fun."
-- AppCraver

"I love the fact the letters are sitting on lined paper graphics and the clear directives on how to write letters had me imagining school classrooms full of children with iPhones..."

An Apple "Staff Favorite" since 2008, ABC Animals provides a wonderful set of interactive flashcards that aid in teaching young children to recognize, say and print English alphabet letters. Intuitively swipe between cards with the flick of a finger. Fun and engaging animal illustrations help to keep learning ABCs fun! Audio accompanies each card providing a letter name, associated animal name and the phonetics for each letter.

INSTRUCTIONS

Swipe between flashcards. Press letter or animal images to repeat audio. Tap the scribble icon in the lower left corner of the app to practice tracing both uppercase and lowercase letters right on the screen of your iPhone. Tap the icon again to continue swiping between flashcards.

PREFERENCES

Preferences for ABC Animals are available by tapping the settings icon on the lower right of the app. Preferences allow a parent to choose the handwriting method best suited for their child, enable or disable any or all sound effects and prevent the tracing of letters if practicing writing skills or phonics isnt age appropriate. For bilingual families and parents who want to teach their children ABCs in other languages, ABC Animals can also be used in English (both US & UK), French, German or Spanish. Change your preferred application language for ABC Animals in iOS’s Settings application by selecting ABC Animals and then setting your Preferred Language.

Pros and cons of ABC Animals app for iPhone and iPad

ABC Animals app good for

My kids love this. They are bilingual so it is fantastic for them. Really helps with vocabulary in both German and English and writing skills too. Interesting comments so far - my version has Kuh and Biene etc so not sure why the other person doesnt have it - everytime we launch the app we have a different animal. As for chipmunk - it is also used in German (chip & chap!!). Great work guys and thanks a lot. Ganz toll!!
Keeps my toddler entranced! I had read instructions though to realise all features.
It looks like valuable for my son. However please update written below: 1. Show the spell of each pictures. 2. Show the tiny instruction. 3. Add shortcut function to "ABC...Z" index. Thanks in advance!
My sister loves this application, the only thing she wants is the ability to switch from one letter to the next in trace mode so she wouldnt have to double tap and then do it again. Also, making the space for tracing a bit bigger The developer has done a great job and is one of only a handful of developers who actually pays attention to and helps those who buy the app.
i wish it would say the animal names as well. they are super cute and it would be more practical to learn the animal names a well.
The animals change, keeping my daughter interested. Also one of the best "tracing" games avaliable. Nice size with your choice of arrows or dots! My daughter loves it. She is developing her fine motor skills with this app. Well worth the $2

Some bad moments

The illustrations are adorable, but other than sweeping the flash cards, not an interactive or engaging game. My toddler lost interest within 30 secs. If all youre looking for is flash cards with animals and letters, go for it. If youre looking for something to keep a squirming three-year-old occupied why you try to get at least a little dinner down in a restaurant, this isnt worth the $2.99.
I payed and the sound is gone after a couple of times that my son played
Saw this on the Apple commercial and bought it. What a rip off. I thought there might be a shuffle of different animals each time you used it. Nope just the same ones. Not worth it even if it was free!
How do you get into the handwriting part? Its just flash cards
Dont let the colorful image in the iTunes store fool you. I cant find out any instructions and for the most part, you too will be disappointed after downloading
This had a lot of hype but fails to entertain any of the little ones.
